British tenor Kieran White, described in Opera magazine as ‘a model of clarity and elegance’ continues to enjoy success in the UK and is rapidly establishing himself as a sought after soloist in mainland Europe working with many of the world’s leading ensembles and festivals.
Recent operatic engagements include Narete LA FIDA NINFA at Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik where his ‘layered tenor voice immediately invites you to listen - his great lament became the central moment of the performance (Münchner Merkur), the solo work LA MUSICA E LE RAGIONI DELL'ANIMA at Monteverdi Festival, Cremona where ‘in something of a tour-de-force, White, whose voice has a gently penetrating, oboe-like quality, unflinchingly sustained vocal, verbal and physical intensity (Opera Magazine) and a commercial recording and European tour of Lullys ATYS with Les Talens Lyrique.
Notable engagements include two seasons with Warsaw Chamber Opera as Castor CASTOR & POLLUX, Hippolyte HIPPOLYTE ET ARICIE at the Arcola Theatre (London), Valère/ Tacmas LES INDES GALANTES and Arnalta & Lucano L’INCORONAZIONE DI POPPEA for Ensemble OrQuesta Baroque, Damon ACIS AND GALATEA for The Dorset Opera Festival, Oronte ALCINA for the Arcola Theatre (London) and the Théâtre Basse Passière, Normandy, the title-role L'EGISTO for Hampstead Garden Opera, Ruggiero in Caccini LA LIBERAZIONE DI RUGGIERO and Pastore in Gagliano’s LA DAFNE for the Brighton Early Music Festival, the Sailor DIDO AND AENEAS at the Grange Festival, the world premiere of A KIND MAN and Tom Rakewell THE RAKE’S PROGRESS with New Palace Opera (London).
Upcoming engagements include a tour of Purcells King Arthur and The Fairy Queen with Vox Luminis, Bach Johannes Passion Evangelist with Wells Cathedral Choir at Wells Cathedral and a programme of Bach and Telemann with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra.
On the recital platform he has performed with Elizabeth Kenny (lute/theorbo) and Cedric Meyer (Archlute), performing with both at the Sherborne Music Festival. Recent concert engagements include Messiah at Usher Hall conducted by Sir James MacMillan, Mozart Requiem with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Bach Matthäus-Passion with Ars Musica, Collegium Vocale Briela and the Evangelist at the Bergkerk Deventer, Bach Weihnachtsoratorium (Evangelist and tenor solo) with Collegium Musicum, Bergen and Haarlems Gemengd Koor, Bach Johannes-Passion (Evangelist and tenor solo) with the Sachs-Chor at Basilika Waldsasse and Bristol Bach Choir, Bach Matthäus-Passion (tenor solo) with Copenhagen Soloists, Stainer Crucifixion with Edvard Grieg Kor, Bach Cantatas with Amsterdam Baroque under Ton Koopman, Monteverdi Vespro della Beata Vergine with Edvard Grieg Kor, Bach’s B Minor Mass with Bristol Bach Choir, at the Thuringer Bachwochen in the Erfurt Dom and Bach Johannes-Passion (Evangelist) in Manchester Cathedral and his debut with the ensemble Gli Angeli, in Geneva.
He has worked with many of today’s leading conductors including Ton Koopman, Christophe Rousset, John Eliot Gardiner, Ed Gardner, Benjamin Bayl, Paul Agnew, Stephan Mcleoud, Massimiliano Toni, Chiara Cattani and Stephan Plewniak.
Born in Dorset, England, Kieran began his musical studies as a chorister in Sherborne Abbey, later joining the renowned Wells Cathedral Choir, going on to make a solo appearance on BBC Songs of Praise and appearing on numerous radio broadcasts, CD recordings and Film soundtracks. Kieran continued his studies at Wells Cathedral School as a tenor, taught by Nigel Perrin and sang in the Wells Cathedral School Chamber Choir and the St Patrick’s Cathedral Dublin as a Choral Scholar, later singing with the Truro Cathedral Choir in Cornwall. Kieran graduated from The Royal Academy of Music achieving a Masters with distinction, receiving a Kohn foundation scholarship as a soloist in their Bach Cantata Series. He is presently a student of renowned haute-contre Jean-Paul Fouchecourt. In 2021 Kieran was awarded 2nd place at the Froville International Baroque Singing Competition, in 2022 won 1st place at the Aria Borealis Bodø Singing Competition and was a finalist in the International Cesti Baroque Singing Competition.
